He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley Stoddart and Louise Stoddart (Barr); and his sister Beverly. He is survived by: his wife Judy; his children, Aaron and Cara; his grandchildren, Hayden (Maymie) and Georgia; his great grandchildren, Sierra and Selena; his siblings, Bob (Diane), Marilyn, Ardith (Guy), Susan (Mike) and Martin (Sue); his mother-in-law Ethel; and his brothers-in-law, Brian (Cheryl) and David. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Russel's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Shubenacadie United Church.
