Vincent William Gerard Currie Obituary

On December 18, 2021, Vincent William Gerard Currie, age 41, passed away peacefully at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax.
He was a son of the late Catherine Cecilia Currie, Westville, and the late Gerard Currie, Sydney. The father of the late Kitty and Morty.
Vince is survived by his spouse, Ashley Pembleton, his pride and joy and best friend, “Big Murph”, Stellarton, stepmother, Kaye Currie, Sydney, sister, Aundrea Currie (Chris Thomson), Truro, sister Seanna Colbourne (Shawn), Westville, brother Michael Currie (Amy), Eastern Passage, sister Nicole Frazee (Shawn), New Glasgow. Vincent is also survived by nieces, Emma, Paige, Peyton and Tess, and nephew, Lane.
Vince most recently resided in Stellarton, NS. However he grew up in Westville. His first friends ever were Greg and Melissa Hambly. Then in his early teens he spent some time living and Cape Breton. He made a lot of good friends there, the Westmount crew. Brandon Phillipo, Graham Reid and Natalie Rudderham were who he mentioned the most. Next on his adventure he moved out to BC with his father and stepmother Kaye. He loved it out there. Also made quite a few friends out there too, Jason Hillier, Tyrel Johnson, Rebecca L’Heureux, Beau Mongeau, Jason Mabbut, Lindsey Chandler and Aiden Pay as well as Aiden’s mother and sister. His favorite place to hang out was the Englishman river. Specifically the spot called Sockeye. Then it was back to Pictou County, as his mother had become ill. His bestie then was Bobby Fraser. A few more of his favorite people throughout life, Eva Campbell, Jennifer Leadbetter and Ryan Mackenzie. I always knew who Vincey was, but never talked to him until we both worked at Convergys, which we both hated. We bonded over a joint on our lunch breaks for a while and suddenly 18 years together go by. We’ve had our ups and down, but always stuck through the good and bad. We didn’t have children, but we had Kitty and Gertz. And the famous showering cat Mortimer Lickmen. In 2017 we introduced a new family member, Murphy aka Big Murph. I think he loved Murph more than me! His truest best friend until the end. He could be found listening to pretty much and kind of music, except country. He hated country music! His favorites though were of course The Tragically Hip, Pearl Jam, countless rappers and since a young child, Michael Jackson. Vincey was hilarious to say the least, he was always the life of the party with his usually inappropriate jokes and whatnot. He loved Eddie Murphy’s stand up, Raw and Delirious, knew every word to both. He really should have been a comedian. He was very intelligent and could have done whatever he wanted to. In 2017 he decided to go back to school. He chose the welding inspector course at NSCC. He excelled and was one of the top in his class in 2019. One of my proudest moments in life was watching him graduate. He was also very proud of himself, as he should have been. He was always trying to help someone out, whether they deserved it or not. He had a heart of gold and did to the very end.
Murphy said his good byes Friday night and I was with him Saturday morning at 08:42 when he passed away as were two of his sisters. Still helping people until his last breath. He donated his organs and gave 4 people another chance at life they may not have had without him. I know he would have been so proud of that.
Vince will be dearly missed by so many people he’s met in his lifetime (sorry if I forgot to mention anyone), but most of all Murphy and myself. I know how much he missed his father, who would have been waiting with open arms for him. Life will never be the same. RIP my love. You will never be forgotten, you were one of a kind. Love you always, your Nipsey ❣️
