He was predeceased by: his parents, John Burnes and Annie Burnes (Doucet); and his siblings, Lucy Dora Aucoin, Loretta Aucoin, Thomas Burns, Lionel Burns and Bernadette LeBlanc.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Burns; his children, Lola LeLievre (Clarence), Annette Poirier (Everett), Cindy Groundwater (Tracy), N. B. and Michael Burns (Sandra) of Prince Albert, B. C.; his grandchildren, Jason, Mika, Coby and Amelia; his great grandchildren, Nevaeh and Ryan; his stepchildren, Lynn Deagle (Ryan) and Bruce Deagle (Ashley Coady); his stepgranddaughters, Virgina and Emilie; and his siblings, Velma LeBlanc, Caplemoine and Alex John Burns. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
