He was predeceased by: his mother Irene Matheson; his stepfather Donald Matheson; his wife Marilyn (Mason); and his siblings-in-law, Freda Cameron and Robert Robson.

He is survived by: his children, Margie Campbell (Greg), Bridgeville, Penny MacEwan, Susan Dunlop, Fred Jr. MacEwan (Sherri), Jamie MacEwan (Jennifer) and Ont; his grandchildren, Courtney, Kirsten, Dustin, Jake, Matthew (Myra), Daniel (Laura), Caitlin, Emma, Rebecca, Megan, Gracie and James; his friend Bernadette; and his siblings-in-law, Muriel Robson, Margie Mason (Doug Hawkins), Betty Mason, Wanda Mason (Bill), Fred Mason (Lynn), Charlie Mason (Florence) and Donnie Cameron. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Donations may be made in Fred's memory to Trinity United Church.
