He was predeceased by: his parents, John "Jack" Phalen and Myrtle Phalen-McLaughlin (Moreau); and his siblings, Jack Phalen (Edith), Florence Chisholm (James), Jean Carver (Maurice), Nora McGrath (Fred) and Elaine Smith (James "Buddy").

He is survived by: his wife Priscilla Phalen; his children, Belinda Phalen, Amanda Dewtie and Fraser Phalen (JenniferPerry); and his siblings, Cyril Phalen (Jill), Barry Phalen (Shirley), Fred Phalen (Carol), Lillian O'Hearn (Mick), Isabel Asprey (Jim), Glenda MacIntosh (Eldie), Colleen MacDonald (Lux) and Trenton.

Donations in memory of Russell may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
