He was predeceased by: his parents, John Frederick and Iona May Rushton (Harrison); and his sister Iona "Bubs" Rushton (Bert Brown). He is survived by: his wife Esmerelda "Essie" (Hunter); his sons, Chad of Springhill and Garth (Nikki); his granddaughter Hannah of Washington State, USA.; and his siblings, Susan Gamble (late George) of Halifax, Marilyn Hollis (late George) of Springhill, Reginald "Reg" of Springhill, Gary Hunter (Norma), Eric Hunter (Beverly), Vaughn Hunter (Kay), Cleve Hunter (Jane) and Lester Hunter (late Crystal).

Visitation was held on Monday, January 6th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
