He was predeceased by: his parent Charles Smith; his granddaughter Lindsay Jean Maddison; and his siblings, Cleve, Clyde, Ronald, Norman, George, Robert, Carol, Gladys and Edith.

He is survived by: his parent Thelma Smith (Wiseman); his wife Lorretta; his children, Randy Smith (Gwen Van Metre) of Fort McMurray and Bonnie Maddison (Jack); his granddaughter Krista Maddison; his siblings, Larry (Marie) of Kersley, BC, Harold "Hallie", Burton and Audrey Spence; and also Amherst. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
