He was predeceased by: his parent Jean Burns; his wife Dianne; and his brother Aubrey. He is survived by: his son Leslie Burns; his grandchildren, Tristan and Chase; his sister-in-law Dorothy Burns; and his nieces, Angela Burns, Tina Burns, Terry and Melonie Hebert.
