He was predeceased by: his parents, Stephen Labrador and Rose Labrador; and his siblings, Josephine Moriaty, Diane Brown, Audrey Syliboy and Gordon Labrador.

He is survived by: his siblings, Bernice Labrador of Massachusetts, Sylvia Gould (Hubert) of Waycobah, Cape Breton, Valerie Wilmot (Spencer) of Millbrook, Linda Labrador of Melville, Rosalind Labrador of Halifax, Anita Paul (Keith) of Indian Brook, Angus Labrador of Windsor, Chris Labrador of Indian Brook and Greg Labrador of Indian Brook; his brothers-in-law, Bernie Syliboy of Indian Brook and Bob Moriaty of Maine, USA; his niece Desiree Grantmyre; and his children, Sadie, James and Richard of Massachusetts. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren; many half sisters and brothers; many nieces and nephews; and extended family.
