He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Acker and Dora Acker (Gregory); his wife Aileen Acker; his daughter Joan Chestnut; his great grandchild Noah; and his sister Ruth Sapp-Levy.

He is survived by: his son Clark (Elizabeth); his grandchildren, Sarah (Anders), Stephen (Miranda) and Argyle; his son Danny (Lois); his grandchild Courtney (Frank); his son-in-law Bert Chestnut; his grandsons-in-law, Duane (Julie) and Peter (Laura) of Halifax; and his great grandchildren, Rhian, James, Maisie Acker, Riley and Charlotte Chestnut.
