He was predeceased by: his parent Charles Dittler; his wife Barbara (Martin); his siblings, Robert, William and Edith; and his daughters, Robyn and Gretchen.

He is survived by: his parent Louise Dittler (Pounder-Snyder); his sisters, Gretchen Williams and Irene Caldwell; his children, David Jr. (Susan) and Bonnie of Topeka, KS; his grandchildren, Joshua Dittler, Sable River, Robert Martin, Meghan Martin, Halifax, Kathryn Martin and Shelburne; his son-in-law Kevin Martin; his stepgrandchildren, Melanie and Jared; his great grandchild Knightly Dittler; and his stepgreat-grandsons, James and Jesse.

Memorial donations may be made to the Sable River Volunteer Fire Department or charity of choice.
