He was predeceased by: his parents, Nathan Demings and Mildred Demings (Rogers); his wife Edith "Betty"; and his siblings, Earl, Danny, Betty, Marilyn, Edna and Beverly.

He is survived by: his children, Betsy Johnston, Shirley Locke (Darrell), Tom (Nancy), Leslie (Sue), Ricky (Twyla), Joel (Peggy) and Steven (Deby); and his siblings, Laverne Townsend (Carl), Diane Acker (Dave), Elaine Collins, Gerry, Mac (Jackie) and Terry (Bev). He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild.
