He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Blades and Hattie Blades (Chetwynd); his wife Geraldine; his daughter Janet Beth; and his siblings, Murray, Carl, Edwin, Joe, Clifford, Lawrence, Robert, David, Thomas, Walter, Violet, Vera, Aseneath, Marion and Lillian.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Darren (Tracy), Breanna, Samantha-Jo and Madison. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
