It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of John Gilhen (Shad Bay, Nova Scotia), born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, who passed away on April 6, 2025, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Carolyn Jane White; his parents, Augustus and Flora (Livingston); his siblings, Patricia, Sid (Audrey) and David (Florence); his brother-in-law Mike Marriott; and his son-in-law Garnet Rhyno.
He is survived by: his children, Sherry Rhyno, Dawn and Jonathan (Celia) of Vancouver, B. C.; his grandchildren, Lucas (Heidi), Brett and Jenna; his great grandchild Callie Jane; his siblings, Ernst (Carol), Michael (Blanche), Maureen Marriott and Karen Marriott (Paul); and his close friends, Gus and S. Museum Gopher Tortoise.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Joseph's Church (3709 Prospect Rd, Shad Bay, NS B3T2B4).
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that individuals make a donation to Acadia University.
