He was predeceased by: his parents, Ivan Pauls and Kathleen Pauls (Molly); and his son John Richard. He is survived by: his wife Linda (MacLean); his sons, Robert (Melanie) and Kyle (Tamara); his grandsons, Logan and Keegan; his sisters, Connie Manuel (Aubrey), Carolyn Pauls (Ron) and B. C.; his aunt Pat Boutilier; and his pet Gracie. He is also survived by brother; many aunts, uncles, nieces; nephews.

Donations in Rick's memory may be made to St. Martha's Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit or the Canadian Cancer Society.
