He was predeceased by: his parents, Adolphe Melanson and Elizabeth Melanson (LeBlanc); and his siblings, Philomene Saulnier and Alphonse Melanson. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Esther Smith of Weymouth North; his children, Paul Melanson (Leone), Gerald Melanson (Leanne), Therese Townsend (Larry) and Cecile McCaughey (Bill Blue); his grandchildren, Nicole (Robert), Colette, Travis, Ben, Zach and Dalton; his great grandchildren, Tyson, Julia and Ashton; and his siblings, Louise Comeau, Blanche Comeau, Henry Melanson, Lydia Saulnier, Theodore Melanson and Antoinette Theriault.

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, a private graveside service will be held in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Saulnierville, officiated by Rev. Honoré Kouassi.
