He was predeceased by: his parents, Mark Gillis and Jean Gillis (Goodwin); his former wife Cora Gillis (Rogers); his son Lee Gillis; and his brother Allison Gillis.
He is survived by: his wife Carol; his daughters, Vicki Gillis (Michael Waram), Sue Browne (Jason), Angevine Lake and Jennifer Blier (Robert); his stepdaughters, Joann Patriquin (Todd), Roslin, Sonia Nix (Brad), Barb March, Tara Doucette and Fox Harbour; his grandchildren, Derek Gillis, Blair Gillis, Amber Gillis, Ally Blier, Liam Nix, Logan Nix, Corbyn Patriquin and Grayson Patriquin; his great grandchildren, Kendall, Shay Gillis, Lilah and Memphis Patriquin; and his siblings, Carol Spicer and Botsford Gillis. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 1st 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Mundle's Funeral Home (204 Water St, Pugwash, NS B0K1L0). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Wesley St. Matthew United Church (14 Church St, Pugwash, NS B0K1L0).
In honour of his late son Lee, Evans would want donations to be made to Lung NS-PEI or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
