He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Dort and Anita Dort (Forrest); and his brothers, Leonard Forest and David Dort. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Mary Dort (DeRoach); his grandchildren, Samantha, Cassandra, Mia and William; his siblings, Andrew (Amelia), Lochside, Francis (Therese), Alderney Point, Edward and Linda Cameron (Marc Boudreau); and his pet Emily.

Memorial donations can be made to St. Ann Centre in Arichat or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
