He was predeceased by: his wife Geraldine; his stepsons, Wilson and Joseph Smith; and his parents, Maude MacKinnon and Ian MacKinnon.

He is survived by: his aunt Margaret; and his stepdaughters, Bernice (George Legge), Marlene (Eric Jacobie), Wanda Smith (Jimmy), Cathy Smith (Diane Jardine) and Michelle (Ron Melanson).

The family would welcome donations in Robert's memory to St. David's United Church, the Celtic Music Interpretive Centre in Judique or a charity of your choice.
