He was predeceased by: his parents, Smith Holt and Mary Elizabeth Holt (Langille); his wives, Marion Holt (Mingo) and Ann Holt (Waters); and his siblings, Fred G. Holt, Kathleen Munroe and Mysie MacPhee.
He is survived by: his children, Kenneth Holt (Carol) of Westville, NS, Ian Smith of Brandon, MB, David Smith of Durham, NS and Angela Mullins (Smith) of Tignish Crossings, NS; his grandchild Kerry Dykeman (Stephen) of Thorburn, NS; his son Eric Holt of Westville, NS; and his great grandchildren, Owan, Felisity and Kaylie MacLeod.
