He was predeceased by: his parents, Mae Murray and Donald Murray of Pictou; his wife Grace (MacLellan); his brother Bill Murray (Margaret); and his brother-in-law Bruce Heighton.
He is survived by: his children, Jan McKinnon (Greg), Gregg Murray (Linda), Joan Gouthro (Tom) and Sharon Murray; and his sisters-in-law, Betty MacLellan and Eleanor Heighton. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
