He was predeceased by: his parents, Reginald MacDonald and Sarah Jane MacDonald (Wood); and his siblings, Raymond, Emmett, Earl, Frank, Kenneth, John and Freda Butters.

He is survived by: his close friend Donna Gass; his son Richard (Tami); his grandson Gabe; and his sisters, Helen Marks and Linda Bowen. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Donations may be made in his memory to CARMA Cat Rescue Pictou.
