He was predeceased by: his parents, Angus Steele and Margaret Steele (Doherty); and his brothers, Robert and Harvey. He is survived by: his wife Bernice Steele (Grandy); his son Tom (Sarah); his grandchildren, Shanea Keaton and Keyanna Houg (James); his great grandchildren, Ja'Nia Keaton and Flora Steele-Houg; and his siblings, Frank Steele of Ancaster, ON, Kathleen Harrison (Gene), Brian (Doris Stanley), Bedford (Garnet) and Jean Haley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. Joseph Church Improvement Fund or St. Matthew Wesley United Church.
