He was predeceased by: his parents, James Young and Gertrude Young (MacDonald); his wife Dorothy Young (Keigan); and his siblings, Carmie Ivey (Albert), Reginald "Urban" Young and Arlie Young.
He is survived by: his children, Carmie Edwards (Chris), Sydney Mines, Jimmy Young of Guelph, ON and Michelle MacInnis (Shaun); his grandchildren, Kristen Young, Liam Edwards (Samantha Gracie), Jamie, Amber MacInnis and Jamie-Jo Young (Andre Champagne); his great grandchildren, Lincoln and Lily-Anna MacInnis; his sisters, Eileen MacIntyre (Malcolm), Iris Gaudet (Lloyd) and Ann Morris (Fred); his sister-in-law Brenda Young; and his niece Debbie Ivey-Miller. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Centre, NS Heart and Stroke Foundation, or Hospice Cape Breton.
