It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Wilfred Douglas Edwards of Newport Station, Nova Scotia, who passed away on March 19, 2022, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Edwards and Jane Edwards (Bouchie); his wife Barb Edwards (Shanks); his son Barry; his siblings, Carlton (Peggsy), Graham, Ronnie and Geraldine (Caldwell); and his sons-in-law, Terry Swinamer and Mike Hardy.
He is survived by: his daughters, Sandra Swinamer and Susan Goalen; his grandchildren, Tim Muir (Elaine), Heather Macumber (Jimmy), Michelle Underwood (Gary), Eddie Goalen, Jeffrey Goalen and Matthew Swinamer (Ashley); his great grandchildren, Tyler, Branden Muir, Evan, Connor Macumber, Lukas, Grayson, Alexis Underwood, Logan, Maddison Swinamer, Aushon, Mikaya and Aroura Goalen; his sister Katherine McIvor; and his sisters-in-law, Shirley Ward and Maxine Edwards. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Wilfred was a recipient of the Diamond Jubilee medal in recognition of his contributions to Canada.
