She was predeceased by: her parents, Jerry McCarthy and Mary Ann McCarthy (Corbett); her husband Richard Smith (Duz); her siblings, Ann Pino, Carmel "Babs" Stokes (Harry), Shirley Lauzon (Moe), Agatha "Babe" Chesal and Bernie McCarthy (Marge); and her brother-in-law Pleman Woodland.
She is survived by: her children, Linda Knox (Russ), Cathy MacLellan (Scott) and David Smith (Marsha); her grandchildren, Matthew (Angela), Mark, Michael (Carina), Kathleen Knox, Jennifer MacLeod (Steve), Jacquelyn Wager (Chris), Jillian Ferguson (David), Jeslyn Smith, Liv (Bryanna MacLean) and Hannah MacLellan (Nathan Penney); her great grandchildren, Greyson, Olivia, Ellie, Adelyn, Daphne, Euella, Hiram, Sadia, Amirah, Bowen, Macy and Mia; her siblings, Rita Woodland, Yvonne Cooper (Wayne) and Eddy McCarthy (Eunice); and her sister-in-law Phyllis McCarthy. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made in Catherine's name to the Cape Breton SPCA or Maple Hill Manor.
