He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Hulford and Helen Hulford (Walters); his sister Judy; his brother-in-law Alec White; his siblings, Sandra and John; his sister-in-law Sheila; his brother David; and his sister-in-law Elaine.

He is survived by: his wife Sylvia (Smith); his children, Michael (Jenny) and Brenda MacLeod (Graham); his sisters, Donna Naismith (Brian), Helen Antle (late Charles), Kathy and Sheila; his grandchildren, Alex, Eric, Chera Clements (Conan) and Kevin Copan (Penny); and his great grandchildren, Carter, Tanner, Miller, Taylor and Harper. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's memory can be made to the Nova Scotia Diabetes Association.
