He is survived by: his wife Gloria (Meister); his son Bruce John Gates; his grandchildren, Ryan Parsons, Katelynn Gates-Schell and Karley Gates; and his great grandchildren, Trinity Parsons, Kay-Dee Parsons and Rylin Parsons.
