He was predeceased by: his parents, Grant Mason and Sadie Ethel Mason (Smith); his brothers, Brenton, Warren and Ray; his siblings-in-law, Sally Mason, Dixon Cole and Glen Boynton; his niece Laura; and his nephews, Jeffery, Bill, Laurence, Trevor and Warren Jr..

He is survived by: his son Walter Mason Jr.; his siblings, Marion Johnson (Carl), Thelma Boynton, Linda Vance, Carol Cole, Sheila Mason, Sandra Mason, Coalburn, Wayne Mason (Cathy), George (Jane), Abercrombie, Stan (Bonnie), Dave (Barb), Granton, Neil (June) and Kenny (Elaine); and his sister-in-law Eunice Mason. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
