She was predeceased by: her parent Daniel Thomas; her husband Alexander Hugh MacDonald; her son Paul Daniel; her daughter-in-law Karen; her granddaughter Shelby; her siblings-in-law, Harold MacDonald and Mildred Bannerman; and her siblings, Evard Hamilton, Ruby Jinson, Edna Lint, Dolly DeMarchant, Jeanette Etherington, Phyllis Clark and Isabelle Jinson.

She is survived by: her parent Bertha (Foster); her sons, John (Charlene), Antigonish, Joe (Laura) and Peter (Stacey); her grandchildren, Alexander, Bailey, Ryan, Mary and Jesse (James); and her brother Earlin. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
