He was predeceased by : his parents, Mary Thompson and MacFarlane; and his siblings, Ronald (Anne), James (Annabelle), Miriam (James), Joseph (Sharon) and Gerry.

He is survived by : his wife Ruth Thompson (Gardner); his children, Robert (Ponds), Doug (Edmonton), Lisa (Stellarton) and Andy (Plymouth); his grandchildren, Jeffrey, Scott, Mark, Ami, Chika, Layo, Hayley, Rory, Dylana, Skyler and Sam; and his siblings, Leo (Sarah), Lillian (Geordie), Minnie (Bob), Camilla (Charlie) and Leonard (Paula).

Visitation was held on Monday, June 24th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the H. W. Angus Funeral Home (256 King St, New Glasgow, NS B2H4X8). A funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, June 25th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Church of the Holy Name (1664 N Main St, Westville, NS B0K2A0).
