He was predeceased by: his parents, Alex Johnstone and Thirza Johnstone (Smith); his daughter Linda Clark; and his siblings, Elsie Fanning, Chalmers, Albert, George and Lewis.
He is survived by: his wife Bessie (Clark); his daughter Janet MacPhee (Campbell); his grandchildren, Julie Ann MacPhee, Michael MacPhee, Deborah Clark and Rebecca Clark; his great grandchildren, Grace MacPhee and Sarah MacPhee; and his son-in-law Peter Clark. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Donations in memory of James may be made to the Sunny Brae Cemetery or to the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital.
