He was predeceased by: his parents, John Herbert and Myrtle Nina Phalen (Munroe); his daughters, Heather Lynn and Nicole; his siblings, Nora MacGrath, Florence Chisholm, Jean Carver, Elaine Smith, Russell and Jack; and his brothers-in-law, Buddy Smith, Jim Asprey, Fred MacGrath, Jim Chisholm and Maurice Carver.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Phalen (Wilson); his daughters, Trinda Lee Phalen, Angela DeWolfe (Matt MacNeil) of Dieppe, N. B. and Alicia DeWolfe (Eric Lavoie); his stepchildren, Deenie Webster (Don) and Robert Walsh (Dawn); his grandchildren, Fantasy, Cassandra, Jacob, Jackson, Ayla, Charlotte, Harper, Ayden and Addison; his sisters, Glenda MacIntosh (Eldie Ross), Colleen MacDonald (Lux), Isabel Asprey and Lillian O'Hearn (Mick); his stepgrandchildren, Adam, Aaron, Leah, Samantha and Kerri Ann; his brothers, Fred Phalen (Carol) and Cyril Phalen (Jill); and his sister-in-law Priscilla Phalen. He is also survived by step-grandchildren, several great-grandchildren.
