It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Anse MacDonald of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, who passed away on February 20, 2023, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Anse MacDonald to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Angus and Agnes MacDonald (Currie); his wife Bernice (MacKenzie); his sons, Kent and David; and his siblings, Daniel, Currie, Marie, Anita and Catherine.
He is survived by: his children, Karen Williams (Keith), Brent MacDonald (Cindy), Bedford, Bruce MacDonald (Terri), Janet Nicholson (Larry) and Coxheath; his grandchildren, Joey (Becca) and Jeffrey Williams (Jennifer); his children, Liam, Neil MacDonald, Amanda, Julia and Jennifer Nicholson; his great grandchildren, Brayden, Georgia and Tucker; and his brother Vincent MacDonald (Anne). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He received the Commemorative Medal for the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada and Certificate issued by the Governor General of Canada in recognition of significant contribution to compatriots, community and to Canada 1867-1992. In 2011, he received the Frank Baldwin Award from Basketball Nova Scotia in recognition of his long-term and significant contribution to the development of the sport in Nova Scotia.
