It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Alice Artheia Ballantyne-Smith (New Glasgow, Nova Scotia), born in Thorburn, Nova Scotia, who passed away on December 11, 2022, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur Cholmondeley and Vera Mae Cholmondeley (Langille); her former husband David W. Ballantyne; her siblings, Shirley Zentner (Ken), Betty Cunningham (Lloyd), Allister, Gary, Gordon, Harold, Howard and Stephen David; and her siblings-in-law, Annie Henriksen (Kjell), Marjorie Ballantyne, Alice Porter (Forrest), Agnes Ballantyne, Richard Smith and John Ballantyne (Betty).

She is survived by: her husband Douglas G. Smith; her children, Joanne Chisholm (Sandy), Kevin Ballantyne (Lynn), Woodburn and Shawn Ballantyne (Ruth McLeod); her grandchildren, Sara (Nicholas), David (Shannon), John (Kim), Megan (Aaron), Lindsay (Daniel), Katie (James), Nathan (Alyssa), Ryan and Janine (Jon); her great grandchildren, Lachlan, Lincoln, Wynn, Lillian, Bayne, Liam, Eric, Landon, Kaylee, Phoebe, Silas, Nolan and Frankie; her brother Rev. Arthur Cholmondeley (Linda); and her siblings-in-law, Beverley Chomondeley, Edmonton, Alta, Diane Chomondeley, Bailieboro, Ont, Beverley Smith, Ross Smith (Teresa) and John Smith. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
