He was predeceased by: his parents, John William MacKenzie and Muriel Ida Campbell (MacKean); his stepfather John Campbell; his brother Bruce MacKenzie; and his son James Robert (Tanya).

He is survived by: his wife Maxine Cook; his children, Jeff (Missy), Jennifer Dykstra (Mark) and Janice Hiltz (Mike); his stepchildren, Archie (Debbie), Cindy Cook, Wanda Goodall and Joyce Mattinson (Teddy); his siblings, Marilyn Clements and Red MacKean (Cheryl); his stepbrother Ross Campbell (Ruth); and his grandchildren, Zac, Zoe MacKenzie, Ryan, Nick, Adam Dykstra, Brooke, Danica, Tyler MacKenzie, Dylan, Mason Hiltz, Tammy Kehoe, Mundy Avery, Tyler Noskiye, Kala Robichaud, Michael Browning, Lee, Roy Goodall, TJ, Tiffany Mattinson and Rachael Darragh. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
