It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty Eleanor Hirtle (Middleton, Nova Scotia), born in Kingston, Nova Scotia, who passed away on October 2, 2024, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Carmen W. Penny and Bertha V. Penny (McKenzie); her husband Walter E. Hirtle; and her siblings, Margaret Eisnor, Mary Ritchie, Edith Penny, Irving, Reginald, Lester, Lewis and Carl Penny.
She is survived by: her daughters, Darlene Hirtle (Dale Gallagher) and Sandra Zwicker (Burton); her grandchildren, Krista MacLean, Joel Zwicker (Alyssa), Alicia MacLean and Christopher Zwicker (Laura); her great grandchildren, Nikida Brisson MacLean, Leigha Brisson MacLean, Courtney Grassinger, Jacob Hallum, Karli Connell, Ainsley Connell, Cyrus Zwicker and Hans Zwicker; her sister Dolly Gebhardt (Alberta); her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Penny and Donna Hirtle; and her close friends, Beverly Phinney, Alice Hatch, Margaret Keddy, Gloria Legge and Gwen Hudgins.
Donations in her memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or to Valley Hospice Foundation.
