He was predeceased by: his parents, William Russell and Elizabeth Russell; and his siblings, Hayward, George, Melvin, Douglas, Mabel, Beatrice, Frances and Inez.
He is survived by: his significant other Connie; his children, Bobby (Carissa Clement), Matthew (Joanne) and Lauralee (Mike Cyr); his grandchildren, Samantha, Alexander Cyr, Taylor, Meaghan Russell and Annie Russell; and his siblings, Bill, Art, Don, Charlie, James Madden, Susan and Gladys. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Salvation Army Halifax West Church, or the Palliative Care Unit of the QEII.
