He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Mitchell (Dwyer) and Harry Mitchell; his siblings, Allan, Keith, Ronald, Beatrice, Dolly and Joanne; and his siblings-in-law, Sylvia, Manny Slaunwhite, Mise Blackburn, Edward Mahar, Donald Blackburn and Wendell Publicover.

He is survived by: his wife Donna (McInnis); his children, Natasha (Joel) and Barry (Kirsten); his siblings, Jack, Donald (Vera), Stanley (Linda), Robert Casey (Christina), Shirley Sampson (Tony), Gloria Mahar and Elaine Blackburn; his mother-in-law Marie McInnis (Bob); and his siblings-in-law, Patricia McInnis (Steven), Marie, Dean Brewer and Jody McInnis (Alicia). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
