He was predeceased by: his parents, Lillian (Olmstead) and Lloyd; his close friends, George and Paul; his sister Ethel; his siblings-in-law, Ferne and David; and his mother-in-law Kathleen.

He is survived by: his sons, Herb Jr. (Lise), Kevin (Stacey), Newburn and Dan (Diane); his siblings, Marlene (Bob), Lloyd (Charlotte), David (Rhoda) and Fauxburg; his father-in-law Bud Lantz; his grandchildren, Talon (Chelsea), Dakin (Amber), Kaedan, Emery (Sophie), Laiken Hanmer (Jason), Jessica (Cody), Nineveh, Emilie, Brett (Kelsie), Chelmsford and Kyler (Natalie); and his close friend Charles.
