He was predeceased by: his parents, Lorenzo McGinnis and Lottie McGinnis (Sawler); his daughter Rose Marie; and his sisters, Elsie Clarke, Minerva Eisnor, Bernice Hiltz, Margery Sendrowski and Bessie Dorey.

He is survived by: his wife Alice (Hardiman); his children, Joan Dorey (Donald) and Bubby McGinnis; and his grandchildren, Kerry Dorey (Michael), Scott Dorey, Shawn Dorey (Sherri) and Jennifer Tang (Chung). He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; his extended family.
