She was predeceased by: her parents, Price Read and Vera Read (Smith); her former husband Raymond W. J. Smith; her husband Rev. Howard Wilson; her stepdaughter Lynda Weatherbee; and her siblings, Thomas, Layton, Richard, Everett and Ruth Boss.

She is survived by: her children, Heather Scopie (Jim) of River Hebert, NS and Dale Smith (Mary) of Enfield, NS; her stepchildren, Debbie Wilson (Bill) of Dartmouth, NS, Graham (Linda) of Calgary, AB and Wayne Weatherbee of Sydney, NS; and her sisters-in-law, Marion and Myrnetta Read. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.

For those wishing to do so, donations in memory of Elsie may be made to the Nappan Maccan United Church and the Alzheimer's Society.
