Steven Varner Obituary

We are sad to announce that on March 23, 2020, at the age of 62, Steven Varner (Lunenburg, Nova Scotia), born in New Germany, Nova Scotia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Maurice Varner and Ruby Varner (Joudrey); his former wife Wendy; and his sisters, Wilma and Faye.

He is survived by: his wife MaryAnn (Kaizer); his children, Gillian (Jerimah Noonan), Justin and Jordan; his stepsons, Derrick Rockwell (April) and Devin Rockwell (Rachel); his grandchildren, Xander, Wendy, Jayden, Spencer and Destinee; and his siblings, Margaret Selig (Douglas), Corner, Ivy Varner, Charles Pleasant River (Lavinia), Kenneth (Christine) and Carl (Donna). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Neurology Department of the QE II, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to any other charity.

I met him several times when bringing our knives to undergo his skillful sharpening; when I was canvassing for the Heart and Stroke Foundation (Steve was always so generous!); and when out for my walks up the river - he always waved and offered a cheery greeting. Our sincere condolences to MaryAnn, and to all the family, from Kent and Sue Robinson.”
