She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Dominix and Mildred Dominix (Smith); her husband Robert L. Lohnes; her brother Wallace Dominix (Buddy); and her niece Sandra Pineo.
She is survived by: her sons, Kevin R. Lohnes (Carmen Craig), Bayport and Stephen Lohnes (Carole Joly); her grandchildren, Julie Lohnes-Cashin (Douglas), Middle Sackville, Jennifer Lohnes of Halifax and Jeffrey Lohnes (Jil) of Toronto, ON; her stepgrandchildren, Shane O'Connor of Cornwall, ON, Erin O'Connor and Mathew O'Connor Besner (Jessica); her great grandchildren, Laurel Lohnes-Cashin and Sophia Lohnes; her stepgreat-grandchildren, Mia O'Connor and Riley Bougie; and her aunt Barbara Deal. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
At Marie's reguest, donations in her memory can be made to Music for the Future (Tusarnaarniq Sivumut Association) a charity founded by her grand-daughter, Julie that provides opportunities for youth in remote Communities in Nunavut to learn music as a healthy creative outlet.
