He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Herb Murphy and Helen Murphy (Hyde); his friend Dr. John Sullivan; his significant other Dr. Sonia Salisbury; his sister Judy Murphy (Fredericton); his children, Luke (Laura Mac Donald), Deirdre (Robert Kapanen), San Francisco and Matthew (Amil Niazi); his grandchildren, Chloe Kapanen, Callum Kapanen and Sommerset Murphy; and his brother Peter Murphy of St. Albert, AB.
