It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Richard James Martell of Lower l'Ardoise, Nova Scotia, who passed away on September 22, 2024, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Patrick William and Henrietta Martell; and his brothers, Ronald, Patrick, Clarence, Angus and Billy.

He is survived by: his girlfriend Patricia (Stewart); his children, Ricky Martell (Darryl) of Halifax and Louise Martell of Halifax; his stepdaughter April Stewart (Wayne); his sisters, Blanch Dort of Prospect, Mary Ellen, Edna, Betty, Jenny, Kathleen and Lena; his niece Cindy (Gerry Martell); his nephew John Bona; his brother-in-law Brian Mombourquette of Lower L'Ardoise; and his friends, Heather and Calvin.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of Richard to the Strait Richmond Palliative care society, the L'Ardoise Volunteer Fire Department or the Alzheimer's Society of Nova Scotia.
