He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Joseph Barrett and Agnes Barrett (David); his daughters, Melinda Barrett of Lower L'Ardoise, Michele Barrett, Mellissa Bona (Raymond) of Grand River and Richmond Co; his grandchildren, Jeffery Smith, Jenny Lee Smith, Nadine Yildiz (Yavuz) and Darryl Bona (Keri Poirier); his great grandchildren, Ava, Ivy, Etta and Vincent; his son Nicholas; and his brother Lester Barrett.
