He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Reginald Carne Gates and Laura; his former wife Diane Drummond Gates (Scott); his wife Constance Lynn Hall Gates; his siblings, Veronica Oliver (Rex) and Anthony Carne Gates (Anne); his pet Romeo; and his stepchildren, Lori Lee Robertson (Keith), Ronald Scott Speed and Jonathan Derek Hounsell (Nicole). He was also cherished by numerous nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers Patrick and Lynn would appreciate a donation to Sibu Wildlife Sanctuary to aid in the rescue, care and rehabilitation of monkeys burned on power lines in Costa Rica http://www.classy.org.
