It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Marlene Diane Ryer (Lewis Lake, Nova Scotia), born in Sambro, Nova Scotia, who passed away on February 1, 2023, at the age of 71, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her father Earle Douglas Schnare; her brother Leonard Gilkie (Jane); her stepfather Clarence Wentzell; and her friend Diane Cleveland. She is survived by: her husband Roger Ryer; her mother Sylvia Schnare (Gilkie); her children, Kimberley Ryer (Timothy) and Kevin Ryer (Samantha); her grandchildren, Brody, Jordan and Ethan; her siblings, Sharon Garrison (David), Vance Schnare (Yvonne), Terry Schnare (Heather) and Chris Schnare; and her friends, Beverly Richardson and Christine Hubley. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Marlene's honour.
