He was predeceased by: his parents, Olive Saunders (Holloway) and Nelson Saunders; his daughter Amanda; and his sister Faye. He is survived by: his wife Karen Saunders (McNee); his children, Michael Rowsell (Lee-Ann), Adam Saunders (Alycia Palmater) and Danielle Saunders; his grandchildren, Joshua, Mikela, Brooke, Charlotte, Piper, Parker, Penny and Josh; his sisters, Lorraine Moss (Garrett) and Donna Feltham (Tony); his father-in-law David McNee (Cole Harbour); and his nieces and nephews, Shawn Cumby, Christopher Moss and Chad Feltham.

Donations in Gary's memory may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
